Nancy and Lee

Some Velvet Morning is everything I love about the 60's. It's confounding, bizarre, and pretentious. It's also brilliant. It was included in the 1968 television special Movin' With Nancy, which featured Nancy Sinatra singing duets with various pop singers of the time, including her dad. I can't imagine what Old Blue Eyes thought of this number.

Written by, and performed with, Lee Hazelwood, SVM is a slice of pop psychedelia filled with references to flowers and Greek tragedy. The time signature changes from 4/4 to waltz time and back again. Listen, and let its brilliance wash over you.
