The Lady In The Tutti-Frutti Hat


2005 marked the 50th anniversary of the untimely death of Carmen Miranda at age 44. The energetic and vivacious singer/dancer/actress was a huge star in the late 30's through the early 50's in her native Brazil and internationally. Seen mostly as a camp icon today, she was well respected in her time and was one of the highest paid performers during WWII.
