Van The Man

The wife and I went to see Van Morrison last night in SF. Van is legendary for being temperamental on stage, but the old guy was in fine voice, and the show was great. Highlights included and extended Country set, a blazing version of St. James' Infirmary, and a duet with daughter Shana. Although at this point in his career Van can play whatever he damn pleases, he did trot out the old chestnuts Moondance and Brown Eyed Girl. Apparently, he can dictate the start time of his gigs, as this one began at 6:45 PM, sharp (18:45 for our Europals). A pretty early evening to be certain, but judging by the number of greybeards in the audience (your's truly included), not a bad idea.
