Mickey Hargitay died yesterday at age 80. Mickey was a former Mr. Universe who later married Jayne Mansfield. He worked with Mae West as a muscleman and performed in an acrobatic act in Hungary. He and Jayne starred together in "Promises, Promises" and "Primitive Love," before he went on to star in a series of low-budget Italian films, most notibly "Hercules." Some of the more colorful titles are "Bloody Pit of Horror," "The Ghastly Orgies of Count Dracula," "Lady Frankenstein," and "Delirium."
Mickey was obviously a model for Gov. Arnold, another bodybuilder who emigrated from Europe, played Hercules, and married well. Schwartzenegger even portrayed Hargitay in the 1980 TV movie “The Jayne Mansfield Story” opposite Loni Anderson.
