Russ' Girls

I got to thinking about the women who starred in Russ Meyer's epic sex romps and what's happening to them now. After a little research, this is what I came up with. Some of the ladies are working on a Meyer tribute film called Bosomania: The Women. Russ Meyer died from complications of pneumonia in 2004.

Eve Meyer

Eve Meyer was Russ Meyer's wife and the star of one of his early films ("Eve And The Handyman"). She had been Playboy Playmate of the Month for June 1955, and was photgraphed by her husband for a series of mens' magazines. She produced most of Russ' films up to "The Seven Minutes." She died in a plane crash in 1977.

Tura Satana

Probably one of the most striking women to grace the screen, Tura Satana was a stripper, actress, teenage girl-gang leader, child bride (she was first married at 13), and one-time lover of Elvis Presley. After some minor roles in feature films, Tura starred as Varla, the go-go dancing bitch goddess in "Faster, Pussycat, Kill Kill!" She went on to make two films for Ted V. Mikels ("The Doll Squad" and "Astro Zombies") and then was shot by a former lover. After that she settled down, got married and had children. She lives in the Reno area, and recently turned 71(!) Tura is active on the celebrity tour circuit. She is currently working on her autobiography. Read her amazing story at http://www.turasatana.com/.

Haji

Canadian born Haji appeared in a number of Meyer's films, including "Faster, Pussycat" (as Rosie), "Supervixens" (as Superhaji), and "Motor Psycho" (Ruby Bonner, the title role). After leaving Meyer, Haji worked with John Cassavettes, appearied in an "Ilsa" film ("Ilsa, Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks") and a few other low budget exploitation films in the late '70s and early '80s. According to her website she is "a visitor from another galaxy, sent as one of Mother Nature's daughters" and her purpose on earth is to help protect all living creatures." Her age is not publicized.

Lori Williams

The third and final Pussycat (Billie) has only a few film credits ("A Swingin' Summer," "It's a Bikini World") as well as a recurring role on "Love, American Style." After she had trouble getting work because she was "too old" (32) she quit acting and became a casting director. Lori turned 60 this year, and says she is ready to start acting again.

Edy Williams

Best known as Ashley St. Ives in the epic "Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls," Edy Williams has over 40 screen and TV credits. Her work has been mostly in sexploitation films ("The Happy Hooker Goes to Washington," "Lady Lust," and "Chained Heat" opposite Linda Blair and Sybil Danning). Edy continues to work and still has a fantastic figure. Check out her website for more information.

Dolly Read

Playboy Playmate of the Month for May 1966, Dolly Read played the conniving Kelly in "Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls." Her performance as the leader of the Carrie Nations was so amazing that it's a surprize that it was her only major film appearance. After a few TV jobs she married Dick Martin ("Rowan and Martin's Laugh In") in 1971, divorced him in '75, and remarried in '78. She was a frequent panelist on "Match Game." Dolly and Dick are still married.

Kitten Natividad

Francesca "Kitten" Natividad appeared in two Russ Meyer films ("Up!" and "Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens") and was Meyer's girlfriend for 15 years. She has appeared in numerous soft- and hardcore films and continues to work in the adult film industry at the age of 58. Famous for her 44DD breasts, Kitten ironically underwent a double mastectomy in 1999.

Uschi Digard

Uschi Digard has over 100 film credits to her name. She started out in Swedish art films and eventually worked her way into porn. She worked with Russ during his "Vixen" period. Her other film credits include "Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS," "Bang! Bang! The Mafia Gang," and "The Erotic Adventures of Pinocchio." Uschi was a very successful model (mostly topless) in the 60's and 70's. Some of her more than 50 stage names are Ronnie Roundheels, Astrid Lillimore, Linda Lolli, and Heidi Bush. Uschi now lives in Southern California.
