Illustrator Joe Edwards passed away Sunday at the age of 85. Joe worked with Bob Montana drawing Archie Comics for over 40 years. He was also the creator of Li'l Jinx. Read more about Joe here.
As usual the characters have been updated to appeal to younger readers. This happened to my beloved Goofus and Gallant, so it was inevitable that the Archie gang would get a makeover. Fortunately the main four (Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead) remain untouched. Reggie looks like he stepped off the set of "The OC," and (no longer "Big") Ethel actually looks kind of cute. Let's hope this trend doesn't continue.
