I Wanna Tell Ya A Little Story

Be very careful when you buy that favorite album of yours on CD. You might get less than you bargained for. Case in point is Jeannie C. Riley's brilliant 1968 country concept album "Harper Valley PTA." Not only does the CD omit three of the eleven songs but it runs the remaining eight in the wrong order. Is nothing sacred?

Fortunately you have me to fill in the gaps. The missing numbers are "The Cotton Patch," "The Little Town Square," and the truly sublime "Satan Place." It's criminal to butcher an album that is not only great but one that actually has a theme (small town intolerance and hypocrisy). Listen to these songs and know the meaning of country. Oh, and how great is the cover?
