Bubblegum Machine Is Back

Well, it never really went away. I just assumed it went out of biz, because there weren't any new posts for the longest time. I happened to see a link to it at Dadanoias the other day. Martin Lampen is a British author (he's set to publish a book on British "cuisine" in October) who, well, I'll let his "manifesto" do the talking:
If it's ever been on K-Tel or Ronco, it's in. If it features hand claps, cow bells, syrupy orchestration, walls of sound, wrecking crews, sha-la-las, toothy teen idols, candy-based metaphors for carnal acts or lyrics about hugging, squeezing and rocking all night long, it's in.

Anyway, each week Martin graces us with two fine lesser-known tracks from obscure (and sometimes not so obscure) artistes from bygone eras. Each track is accompanied by text that sometimes veers off into discussions about food, cult films, prescription drugs, and anything else his free-associating mind can come up with. All this wrapped up in a sugary sweet pink wrapper.
