The Beatles Project #3: Sgt. Pepper's Redux

Here's the third installment of my ongoing (and seemingly endless) recreations of Beatle's albums. I think this one flows pretty well. It starts off with a spirited instro version of the title track by Thomas Reimer, followed by a rereading of "With a Little Help From My Friends" by longtime Beatles obsessive David Peel. Joseph Jaime gives us an appropriately tripping electronica take on "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds." Fionn Regan's reading of "Getting Better" makes it sound like things aren't. Jack Convery does a nice banjo and harmonica job on "Fixing a Hole." Closing out side one is Eric McFadden, doing "Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite."

Side two starts with an earnest Anthony Newley trying to sound cool on "Within You Without You," with intro and outro by Tony Randall. "When I'm Sixty-Four" works well as an acapella version by The Bison Chips. Les Merseys, a 60s-era French Canadian cover band does "Lovely Rita" (in French). Next is a revved up disco version of "Good Morning Good Morning" by Paul Nicholas, Peter Frampton, The Bee Gees from the truly God awful late-70s movie "tribute" to the Beatles. Les Rolling Bidochons give us a French version of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)," and the whole thing wraps up with a beat jazz, spoken word rendition of "A Day in the Life" by Steve Piccolo, Gak Sato, and Luca Gemma.
