Johnny Ray and the BIG Beat

A few selections from the late, great Johnny Ray. Ray was one of the most emotive singers of his time and could wrench the emotions out of the tritest songs. He was known variously as "The Atomic Ray," "Mr. Emotion," "The Nabob of Sob," "The Cry Guy" and "The Prince of Wails."

Here's a 1956 EP called "Johnny Ray and the Big Beat Vol. 2." Johnny sings the hell out of "I'm Gonna Move To The Outskirts Of Town," "How Long How Long Blues," "I Miss You So," and "Trouble In Mind." Check out the cool echo effect at the beginning and end of "How Long..." And how boss is the cover shot of Johnny lighting up a cig? All this for just 49 cents.
